Working Holiday visa for Irish citizens
Visitar Argentina
El requisito
Esta guía está escrita en inglés hasta que su versión en castellano tenga la misma revisión legal. A continuación, el texto en inglés.
¿Es tu caso?
You hold an Irish passport. You are between 18 years and 35 years old. You want to spend up to 12 months in Argentina.
This is a visa you apply for in Ireland, at the Argentine embassy in Dublin, before you travel. You do not apply to Migraciones for it.
We do not run this route. You apply to the embassy yourself. For questions about the visa, the embassy is the authority. For questions about your own situation in Argentina, we can put you in touch with an independent lawyer. You engage and pay the lawyer directly.
El requisito
The Argentine embassy in Dublin and Argentina's foreign ministry, the Cancillería, set these conditions:
- Nationality. You are an Irish citizen.
- Age. Between 18 years and 35 years old. The pages we read do not say whether the limits themselves, 18 years and 35 years, are included, or on what date your age is measured. If you are close to either limit, ask the embassy before you apply.
- Funds. Proof of at least EUR 2,500.
- Health insurance. Cover of at least EUR 30,000, including repatriation.
- Police certificate. An Irish police certificate, issued as close as possible to the travel date.
- Places. 200 visas a year.
- Length. A stay of up to 12 months. The visa cannot be renewed.
Some of these conditions come from a foreign ministry page that has not been updated recently. Each figure shows its date. Check the embassy's page before you apply.
The pages we read do not set out what work the visa allows. Ask the embassy before you accept a job.

Cuánto tarda
The embassy pages we read give no processing time, and our research found none. Ask the embassy when you book your appointment.
The visa is valid for 1 year. The stay is up to 12 months and cannot be renewed.
Cuánto cuesta
The consular fee is EUR 150. It is charged by the Argentine embassy, not by us. How to pay it is not in our research, so ask the embassy.
You also need the funds and the insurance listed above. We charge nothing for this route.
Dónde se equivoca la gente
- Getting the police certificate too early. The embassy asks for one issued as close as possible to the travel date.
- Health insurance without repatriation cover, or below EUR 30,000.
- Planning to extend. The visa cannot be renewed.
- Applying close to an age limit without asking the embassy how it measures age.
- Assuming the visa leads to residence. A residence route needs its own application and has its own test.
A qué lleva
This visa does not lead anywhere by itself. It lasts up to 12 months and cannot be renewed.
If you want to stay longer, look at the residence routes you may fit, such as rentista, student or work. Each has its own test and its own application.
Our research does not say whether time on this visa counts toward permanent residence. It also does not say whether you can change to a residence route without leaving Argentina. Ask a lawyer before you plan on either.
