Irish link: DocumentedGloria Kehoe was born in Buenos Aires on 25 September 1954. SILAS traces her descent to John Kehoe of Co. Wexford and Julia Robbins of Co. Offaly, which makes her Irish link documented.
She wrote short stories. Her story "El reemplazante" won the González Tuñón award in 1975, and her book Pico de paloma was published by Corregidor on 21 April 1977.
On 13 June 1977, weeks after the book appeared, she was abducted and taken to the ESMA, where she was killed. SILAS, which records each Irish-Argentine case of the dictatorship years with dates and detention centres where known, gives no further detail. The research has not yet checked the official registers, the CONADEP files and the Registro Unificado de Víctimas del Terrorismo de Estado, for her case, and asks that this be done before publication.
The people register pairs her with Rodolfo Walsh as the two Irish-Argentine writers killed by the dictatorship, and asks that their pages rest on their work and the facts of their deaths, pointing readers to the human-rights archives rather than to commentary.
