Privacy notice
Draft for solicitor review. Not in force.
Status: in review. Checked on 9 October 2026. Text in square brackets is a placeholder or a question for the owner or the solicitor.
Who we are
[Company legal name], trading as Discover Argentina, is responsible for the personal data described here. We are a company registered in Ireland, number [Company number], at [Registered address, Ireland].
For anything about your data, email [privacy contact email].
The short version
We collect as little as we can.
- We do not store passports, police certificates or any other identity documents.
- Your checklist records the status of each document and its dates. It never holds the document itself.
- We never store your answers about criminal records, past overstays or expulsions.
- We never ask for or hold your Migraciones login.
- We never see your full card number.
- Our database and server functions run in the European Union.
- Analytics run only if you agree.
- If you add a profile photo, your browser makes it small first, it is stored with your profile, and it is shown only to you.
- You can download or delete your data yourself, at any time.
What we never keep
Identity documents. We do not store passports, police certificates, birth certificates or similar documents. There is nowhere on the site to upload them for storage.
Your answers to the screening questions. We ask about criminal records, past overstays and expulsions on one screen. Your answer stays in your browser. Our servers receive the same signal whatever you answer, so we never learn your answer, or even whether we suggested a lawyer.
Your government logins. We never ask for your Migraciones login, and we never use a government website for you.
Your card details. Stripe, our payment provider, handles your card. We never see your full card number.
Messages to the lawyer or to support. We email your message to the person you are writing to. Our database keeps a reference number, the topic, your email address, the date and, if you have them, a link to your account and case. It does not keep what you wrote. [Owner: confirm how long the support inbox and the email provider keep messages.]
What we collect and why
| What | Why | Basis [solicitor to confirm] |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address, language and marketing choice | To sign you in and send what you asked for | [contract; consent for marketing] |
| Your profile: a name, a photo if you add one, where you say you are from and what brings you here | To greet you and put what is nearest to you first. The photo is made small in your browser before it is saved, which removes the camera's hidden details, and is shown only to you | [contract] |
| Your answers in the Route Finder, such as nationality, where you are, how you entered, types of income, family, and age band | To build your plan and show routes you may fit | [contract] |
| Your checklist: the status of each document, its issue date and any notes you add | To track your progress and remind you before dates | [contract] |
| Your deadlines and reminders | To remind you before each date | [contract] |
| The dates you leave and enter Argentina, if you use the days-abroad tracker | To count your days abroad | [contract] |
| What you bought, your subscription and its Stripe reference | To give you access and keep accounts | [contract; legal obligation] |
| Each box you ticked at checkout and in the document check, with the time and the version of the text | To show what you agreed to | [legal obligation] |
| Your File Review or translation request: document types, countries, how many, status, dates and quote | To arrange the work with the reviewer or translator | [contract] |
| Your questions to the guide, its answers, the page you asked from and which suggestions you tapped | To answer you and improve the guide | [contract; legitimate interests] |
| Your email address and interest, if you ask to be told when a route opens | To tell you | [consent] |
| A one-way scrambled form of your IP address | To limit misuse, for example of the guide, sign-in and checkout | [legitimate interests] |
| A record of staff actions and security events | To keep the service secure | [legitimate interests] |
Please do not type passport numbers, ID numbers or criminal-record details into checklist notes or the guide.
If you add another adult or a child to your case, we hold the same kinds of data about them. We never hold their documents either.
Before you sign in. We save a plan only to an account. If you answer our questions before signing in, your answers wait in a cookie in your own browser for up to an hour, while you sign in or join. They are not stored on our servers until then. When you sign in, they become your plan in your account and the cookie is deleted. If you do not sign in, the cookie expires and the answers are gone. Plans started before 14 October 2026 without an account were kept against an anonymous case linked by a cookie; one moves to your account when you sign in in the same browser.
The AI guide
The guide is an AI. It is not a lawyer.
When you ask a question, we send the AI model your question, the page you are on and a short summary of your case. The summary includes your chosen route, whether you are in Argentina, your types of income and the countries you have lived in. It never includes your name or email address.
When you type a sentence on the home page, we first check it for words about criminal records and similar topics. If we find them, we show you the lawyer option and do not send the sentence to the AI model. Otherwise we send it to the AI model to understand your situation. We do not store that sentence.
We delete a guide conversation automatically 90 days after its last message.
The AI document check
The document check is optional. It is off unless we turn it on and you choose to use it.
If you use it, we ask for your consent each time, before anything is sent. We send the photo to the AI model. We process the image in memory and do not store it. We keep only the result: what the document appears to be, whether an apostille seems to be present and the issue date. The result is a guide, not a decision.
A police certificate can contain information about criminal convictions. Irish law allows that kind of data to be processed only on limited grounds, such as explicit consent, and with suitable safeguards. That is why we ask each time.
[Solicitor: confirm the legal basis and safeguards for the document check, and the impact assessment. Owner: confirm how long the AI provider keeps images sent to it.]
Where your data is processed
Our database and server functions run in an EU region.
These providers process data for us.
| Provider | What it does for us | Region |
|---|---|---|
| Neon | Our database (Neon Postgres) and sign-in (Neon Auth) | EU region [exact region to confirm; Neon Auth region to confirm] |
| Vercel | Hosting and server functions | EU region for functions [exact region and content delivery network to confirm] |
| Stripe | Payments, invoices, subscriptions and tax calculation | [to confirm] |
| Resend | Sending email, including reminders and messages you send to the lawyer or support | [to confirm] |
| Anthropic | The AI model behind the guide, the home page, Spanish practice and the document check | [to confirm] |
| Upstash | Rate limiting | EU |
| Voyage AI | Search over our content, only if we turn it on. It receives the text of your question. | [to confirm] |
| Plausible | Counting visits, only after you agree | EU |
| Sentry | Reports of errors on our servers: the error and the page address, without your cookies, answers or anything you typed. Nothing is collected in your browser. | EU region |
[Solicitor: confirm the transfer basis for each provider outside the EU, and the processor agreements.]
The lawyer, translators and reviewers. These people are not our providers. They work for you under their own terms and their own privacy notices. You send documents to translators and reviewers directly. When you write to the lawyer through our form, we email your message to them in Argentina. Argentina holds an EU adequacy decision, so personal data may go there without extra safeguards.
How long we keep it

|---|---|
| Guide conversations | 90 days after the last message, then deleted automatically |

| Answers given before you sign in | In your browser only, for up to an hour; never on our servers unless you sign in |
| An anonymous case started before 14 October 2026 and never signed in to | Deleted automatically once its browser cookie has expired, 180 days after it was created |
| Purchases and invoices | As long as tax and company law requires [accountant to confirm] |
| Records of what you agreed to | [to confirm] |
| Reference records of messages to the lawyer or support | [to confirm] |
