The government has announced a programme for this. It is not open. It is not accepting applications, and its terms have not been published in the official gazette.

This page sets out what is known. You can join the waiting list, and we will tell you if the programme opens. We take no deposits or payments for this route.

The test

There is nothing to apply for yet.

  • Accepting applications: . The announcement said applications would open in . No exact date has been set.
  • Legal basis: Decree 366/2025 added a citizenship ground for a relevant investment in Argentina (). The Ministry of Economy decides which investments count.
  • Residence: the law sets no minimum period of residence for this ground. No source says whether you would need to visit or live in Argentina.
  • Who decides: a new agency under the Ministry of Economy would assess applications and make a recommendation. would take the final decision.
  • Checks announced: identity, the lawful origin of your funds, your finances and assets, criminal and reputational background, and migration history. Funds would have to move through the formal financial system.
  • Prices: the press has reported amounts from a ministry announcement. We found none set in the official gazette, so we do not show them.
  • Payment is not approval. What happens to money paid if an application is refused has not been defined.

The legal footing is disputed

The programme rests on Decree 366/2025. One federal court declared the investment ground invalid in a single case. In another case, the declared the decree null. That ruling was reported on . The government's appeal has been with the Supreme Court since .

A bill in Congress would ban naturalisation in exchange for payments or investments. It is a proposal only.

Unknown. The programme is not open, and no source states how long an application would take. We will not guess.

What it costs

No fees or prices have been set in the official gazette. The press has reported amounts from a ministry announcement. Until they are set in law, we do not show them. Application and due-diligence fees have not been announced.

Where people go wrong

  • Paying a deposit to a firm before the programme opens. The government has appointed no agent, and its tender to choose one was voided on .
  • Treating press-reported amounts as final. They are not in the official gazette, and sources disagree on the bond terms.
  • Assuming that paying means approval. Migraciones takes the final decision after the checks.
  • Ignoring the legal risk. The programme rests on a decree that courts have struck down in individual cases.

What it leads to

If the programme opens and Migraciones approves an application, Argentine citizenship. Today it leads only to the waiting list.
