SILAS
Status
Status: ActiveThe Society for Irish Latin American Studies was founded on 1 July 2003, with President Michael D. Higgins as patron, to study Irish–Latin American relations. It publishes a journal and keeps an archive of Irish settlement, and its legacy pages hold the free lists of Irish settlers in Argentina (4,348 names, drawn largely from Eduardo Coghlan's 1987 genealogy) and of Irish passengers to Argentina from 1822 to 1929. The society says it is an academic society with no genealogy database and is not a citizenship or travel service; members get access to some databases on individual migrants. Its home page carried unrelated online-casino promotional text when read in October 2026, so only its subpages are linked here.
