The Embassy of Ireland is at Avenida del Libertador 1068, Recoleta, and since 5 October 2026 receives visitors by appointment only. Ambassador Olive Hempenstall heads the mission, which covers Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. It was Ireland's only Latin American mission until 1999.
The Embassy channels Emigrant Support Programme grants of roughly 1,000 to 8,500 euro a year to Argentine associations and schools, totalling 24,153 euro in 2024 and 12,425 euro in 2025, and runs strategic projects itself: the Encuentro of Irish-Argentine societies, an Irish gathering in Latin America and, in 2025, a 34,516 euro digitisation of The Southern Cross. It funds Irish Studies, backs Gaelic games through the GAA's Global Games Development Fund, hosts the St Patrick's reception with a visiting Irish minister, supports Bloomsday and literary and film events through Culture Ireland, and runs the Cecilia Grierson scholarships and the Working Holiday scheme, which brings about 200 young Argentines a year to Ireland.
