Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, River Plate (Buenos Aires) branch

The River Plate branch was the first Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann branch registered in South America. Its founding meeting, held at Ceolaras Coleman in Gurteen, Co. Sligo, in 2007 during the Admiral Brown 150th-anniversary tour, elected a committee from 26 musicians and four dancers from Buenos Aires, and a session followed at the Róisín Dubh with local players. A search-result summary of another Comhaltas page said the branch was renamed the Buenos Aires Branch and named Tommy Nelson as first chairman, but that page was not opened. No confirmed current session, céilí series or activity date was found as of October 2026.
